On June 30, Gartner published its annual supply chain technology trends for 2026. The through-line across the list is that the interesting work has moved past adoption. Agentic AI, decision intelligence and simulation are no longer framed as capabilities to acquire but as systems that now make or shape decisions inside an operation, which puts the emphasis on governance, traceability and measurement rather than on pilots.
For an operator, the practical reading is narrower than the list itself. A trend report is a description of where vendor investment is going; it is not a diagnosis of your network. Every item on a list like this eventually arrives as a proposal with a business case attached, and the question that decides whether that business case is real is always the same one — what is this actually costing us today, in this building, in hours. An operator who can answer that from their own records evaluates each of these trends in an afternoon. An operator who cannot will evaluate them by pilot, one vendor at a time, for the next several years.
